About the Artist

I'm Amber,

the creative force behind Blonde Resin. Amber is also a honey-yellow coloured fossilized tree resin that has been appreciated for its colour and natural beauty since Neolithic times. My name was inspired by my golden-blonde hair at birth. My ‘artist name’ was inspired by the meaning behind that name.

My Journey Towards Art & Authenticity

I spent much of my life trying to manage my symptoms of what would be diagnosed as ADHD at the age of 29. What I found was that these ‘symptoms’ were only an issue when trying to lead my life within the limitations of a 9-5 work culture, confined to a computer desk. I have since leaned in – hard – to the things that fulfill me; moving my body and creating art. I love to ride my motorcycle, surf, roller skate and dance. But I connect with and find inspiration for my artwork from anyone who leads with authenticity and passion.

Why Portraits and Realism Art?

Ever since I was a little kid I loved to draw portraits of people or create realistic renditions of what I saw in the world. To study something in an attempt to recreate it with a pencil or paintbrush is to see it in a whole new light. To be skilled at realism art is to be skilled at observation. And I am continually fascinated by what I see when I keep looking. Like what makes something look wet. How so much of what we see is just a pile of abstractions that look like absolutely nothing on their own. How lighting reflects to create shadows and highlights that bring everything to life.

Portraits allow artists to capture the unique essence, emotions, and personality of the subject, often conveying deeper meanings and connections. My wish is for my work to serve as a vibrant celebration of the human experience and the joy found in pursuing one’s passions.
