This painting is for the dreamers, the risk-takers, and anyone brave enough to follow a path that feels authentic to them.

Inspired by 2026 being the Year of the Fire Horse in the Chinese zodiac. It symbolizes passion, rapid change and bold movement. I resonated with this idea while deciding on a new direction for my work and committing more fully to pursuing art. The Fire Horse also carries an element of intense volatility; grounding and emotional balance required. I signed up for the gallery knowing I was about to lose my dog to cancer, and that healthy distraction was necessary to help move through grief. While creating this painting there was struggle, experimentation and breakthroughs. The artistic process always imitating everything else in life. Sometimes friction is required to create fire.

Horses were one of my first loves. I’ve always adored the golden-blonde colouring of buckskins, with the dark contrast of their manes, tails and legs. With this painting, I took great care in capturing the glow of the sunset and the golden outline along the horse. Professional photos preserves these details beautifully, creating fine art prints I am proud to offer.

Collect the original painting: 36″ × 48″ acrylic and gold leaf on gallery-wrapped canvas, float framed in dark walnut-finished red oak.

Year of The Fire Horse Painting

An original painting by Canadian artist Amber Bahm. This piece features a buckskin horse outlined in a soft, glowing light, set against a warm orange sunset and layered mountain landscape.

The palette is made up of burnt orange and umber, balanced with softer tones of peach, muted purple, sand, and natural earth tones. Fine gold leaf detailing along the horse’s outline catches the light.
