This wolf painting is for the people familiar with both the peace and the quiet melancholy of solitude.
Lone Wolf is quite a popular term considering wolves are inherently pack animals. In the wild, they live in structured social groups that function like a cooperative system. They hunt together, raise pups like a village, and defend their territory as a group. That being said, wolves can also live alone. A lone wolf is usually one that’s left its birth pack to find a mate, establish a new pack, or sometimes because it was forced out. So while wolves are strongly social by nature, solitude is more of a transitional or situational phase – not their default lifestyle.
I think humans are much like wolves in that sense. This painting was created during a season of life where I moved away from the city and community that I built over 14 years. I spent a lot of time in nature, in the good company of many tall trees (of which Vancouver Island has many).

Professionally photographed art prints of an original double exposure painting by Amber Bahm. The painting features a close up of the right side of a wolf’s face, anchored by the intense gaze of its golden eye. Towards the bottom of the painting the fur gradually dissolves into a misty forest landscape, where evergreens show through soft layers of fog.
