"Art is whatever you can get away with."
Even nature breaks the rules sometimes.
Leopard cubs are born with blue eyes due to a lack of pigment. As they mature and develop melanin, this colour typically shifts to amber, green, or yellow. In rare cases, this shift doesn’t occur, and an adult leopard retains blue eyes. This genetic anomaly with reduced melanin in the iris reveals cool tones of cyan and turquoise.

Leopard's Eye Original Painting
This original leopard's eye painting incorporates a unique blend of mediums. Some spots were created using acrylic ink, giving the fur an abstract, watercolour-like effect that seamlessly blends into the realism created using an airbrush. Some of the fur was added in with a paintbrush, while other details were created by removing paint with a knife - exposing light, texture, and movement through subtraction. Natural tones are punctuated by the vibrant eye. This original painting is on a 9 × 12 inch, 1.5" deep gallery-wrapped canvas. Ready to hang in a red oak float frame with a dark walnut finish, extending its depth to 2".
