I’ve been fascinated by sharks for years, first sparked by documentaries like Sharkwater and more recently Shark Whisperer with Ocean Ramsay. They are extraordinary, ancient creatures and vital to our ecosystem. They’ve existed for over 450 million years – long before the first dinosaurs. I was shocked to learn that global shark populations have declined by over 70% since 1970. Think about that for a second. Sharks were around for 200 million years before dinosaurs. And humans have managed to wipe out 70% of their population in the last 50 years.
